Renewable Solar Power as Alternative Resource in Singapore
Everyone knows that
sun provides energy to humans, animals, plants and every other creature on
earth. Scientists and engineers are continuously working to convert solar
energy into useful heat or electricity. Mainly there are two types of solar
energy systems photovoltaic and thermal systems. There is a great opportunity
of using renewable solar power in
Singapore.
Solar
photovoltaic:
Photovoltaic systems
convert solar radiations into electricity and the most common is by use of
silicon panels, which generates electrical current when sun rays fall on it.
These solar panels are of great value for remote rural area where it’s
expensive to supply electricity or where other sources of generating electricity
are very expensive.
Solar
thermal systems:
Solar Thermal Systems
store heat from sun which can is used for different purposes which including
active systems like solar hot water heaters and passive systems where
engineering designs automatically stores and utilizes solar energy like in
winter utilize it for keeping house warm in night.
In case of Singapore
Sun Electric is first electricity retail license Holder Company in Singapore.
The Energy Market Authority (EMA) has now making efforts to facilitate more
independent electricity retailers to generate more renewable solar power in Singapore. In the beginning of last year
the Singapore government had introduced solar power in there retail electric
grid.
